The Canary Islands' only dedicated naturist resort at Castillo de Papagayo is near Guatiza (18 on the map). Here it is possible to spend most of the day in the nude. Chalfont Holidays can offer you a wide range of apartments, bungalows and villas within the naturist area. The resort is right by the sea, on a rocky coast, where a lagoon has been constructed for safe swimming surrounded by a sun bathing and games area. There are three restaurants and 2 bars. Although you are expected to be clothed in the restaurants in the evening, at two of these you can have a midday meal in the nude in the sun. You could happily spend your whole naturist hoiday at the Castillo de Papagayo resort, but Lanzarote also offers a selection of well recognised naturist beaches.

The most famous "clothes optional" beaches are at the far South of the island: the wonderful golden sand bays of the Papagayo Peninsula (2). There are four beaches around the peninsula but since the previous rough track has been improved and a toll gate installed (€3) naturists are now mainly to be found on the second one, from left to right. There is now no worry about getting to these beaches in your hire car which is part of our package. Park in the large car park to the left and walk over a small headland to the right of the small beach closest to the car park to a wide bay of golden sand, Playa de Posos. But do take some water and a picnic because there are no facilities, and you will have a memorable day out. (It is slightly confusing that this peninsular has the same name as our resort but the two are at different ends of the island!)

The black sands beach of Janubio (8) are also in the South, and are a great favourite with naturists. Take the minor road to Playa Blanca and turn right to "La Playa" just past the salt pans. The black sand makes a unique setting for naturist photographs!

The Island of Graciosa (20) to the North is almost unpopulated and once one leaves the port village behind one can probably dispense with clothing for the whole day. (However there are a number of jeeps now buzzing about the tracks taking textiles to the more distant beaches.) A wonderful island for naturist walking. We will tell you all the ferry times and details.

Other naturist beaches are at Quemada (near 3) over the first headland from the village, Famara (near 14), and between Jameos del Agua (17) and Orzola.

When you book we will send you all the details of how to get to all of these beaches, and lots of other information to help you in the exploration of the whole island.
