Vera Playa on the Costa Almeria in south-east Spain is a unique naturist resort. It has a warm, dry near-desert climate, and claims to be mainland Europe's only all-year-round naturist resort. It has 2 kms of superb naturist beach and a naturist residential zone of over 2,000 privately owned apartments, a major 4 star hotel and various commercial premises. It is not a centre, but a zone: there is no club, company or other organisation which owns or controls the zone as a whole, which includes public streets and seaside promenade.

There is as yet only one hotel within the naturist zone at Vera Playa - but it is a large and good one. Run by one of Spain's largest hotel groups, Playa Senator Hoteles. The Vera Playa Club Hotel has around 300 rooms, with a mixture of hotel rooms, studios, apartments and some deluxe rooms/apartments (4 of which even have a private pool).

The hotel started life as a 2 star hotel in 1989 and has continuously developed and been upgraded ever since. It now has 4 stars and looks set to go even further up-market. The hotel has an excellent buffet style restaurant, with fish and meats cooked to individual order. The hotel has an entertainments team who run various sports and activities and evening entertainments which take place either on an outside stage or in cooler weather in the large reception hall.

The standard of the rooms and of the cleaning and other services is very high, indeed every square meter of outside paving is cleaned every day (as is, of course, all indoor flooring) - something which, understandably, does not happen at the residential developments near by which do not have the same staffing levels. If any fault or problem is reported the hotel's efficient maintenance staff fix it very quickly.

The hotel encircles a large inner area in which lies its vast outdoor pool. This inner area is well sheltered by the hotel buildings which encircle it. Many palm trees have been planted to beautify the gardens and pol area and to provide shade. The hotel and has a variety of places to sunbathe and a huge number of sun-beds are available around the pool and on a large sundeck above the restaurant, as well as on the beach. Access to and from the beach is via an electronically controlled gate operated by your room key-card.

The Hotel Vera Playa Club is not open during the winter: it was tried one year but did not prove successful. Normally the hotel opens in mid-April and closes in mid-October.

The Vera Playa Club Hotel is the only naturist hotel in Spain. It is located in first line one of the best and most sought after nude beaches of Almeria. It has a fantastic pool area, a solarium surrounded by palm trees and sunbeds. The hotel offers several types of rooms: single, double, studios, apartments, or the magnificent Junior Suite Presidential Suite with private pool.

Important note:
It is mandatory to go naked in the pool during the day, but in the rest of the hotel clothed or nude is a free choice.
It is mandatory to dress in the restaurant and to be clothed from 8.00pm in the whole hotel.
It is forbidden to rake photographs or videos in naturist areas at all times.
